Missing Market

Our post for this month saddly admits that we are missing Market up in High Point, North Carolina. We decided to live vicariously through the images of the showrooms we've frequented in the past. Those Interior Designers and Decorators of Tallahassee in our same boat are welcome to come browse our showroom instead! We've got the Global Views pear pictured in the image above sitting on our floor.

Tallahassee Interior Designers

So this week we've been looking into new market strategies and revamping our website. We're all very excited about the idea of a new web design and it's really reminded me personally of the interior designers I admire and look up to. I've heard so many customers walk into our showroom and complain about the lack of fine furniture in the Tallahassee area (mentioning, luckily, that we're the exception!), but truly that's what an interior designer can help with. Some of the interior designers that I really admire include Jon Vaccari, Clive Christian, Darryl Carter and Dan Carithers. Maybe one day I'll be one somebody else's list--you never know!

Clean Your Draperies without Dry Cleaning

ADO fabrics and draperies are machine washable! Toxic solvents are commonly used to dry clean fabrics, and some are suspected to contain carcinogens that can stay in fabrics for weeks. ADO's fabrics come with a five-year guarantee of washability and dimensional stability--without fading. Check out their Crystal sheer below.

Design & More stocks the full line of ADO drapery fabrics and sheers.

Grasscloth Resource Collection

Thibaut has a new handcrafted natural woven grasscloth collection in wallcoverings. The collection is environmentally friendly and comes in a variety of both solids and patterns--like the Kunqu Damask. Come check out the new books and samples we've ordered for the showroom floor. The textures and colors are phenomenal.

John Richard

I know it's been a while since our last post. Please forgive us for that! We are in the midst of deciding whether or not to carry the John Richard line as the majority leader in on our showroom floor. Please--post your thoughts and critique their product line. We want Tallahassee's input and would love to hear from any and all customers and clients.

Fort Mill Fabulous!

I traveled up to Fort Mill, South Carolina this weekend for my nephew's high school graduation. I stayed, of course, with my brother and sister in-law, in their beautiful home full of eclectic flair. She, my sister in-law, was my inspiration for going into interior design. Take a look at the way she's decorated her home. These are only quick photos taken before my drive back--they do not even do her skill justice as they do in person!

Semi-private walls in the guest bathroom allow for natural light to flow into the space and feed the plants.

Here's a shot of the spiral staircase leading to the third floor.

Photo of the front foyer where she mixed marble and granite to save on the flooring, but still achieved an elegant, tasteful look.

View into the open kitchen, where she filled glass front drawers with dried beans and rice.

Wall of Wonders

We finally did it--we sectioned off a 1/4 of the showroom floor to make a more intimate space for both our clients and ourselves. Russ spent all night arranging vignettes and accessorizing the space. Let us know what you think.
View of cash stand and chandelier alley--notice the bright new celery colored wall.

Lavander fields and fish--imagine!

Our more contemporary section. This mirrored console table is only 7" deep.

A La Provence "After Photos"

We essentially turned the bare walls and niches into an art gallery with fine paintings and sculpture.

The niche has been mirrored and decorated with a floral arrangement--notice our "before" photo down below.

Hallway entrance is now an art gallery!

A La Provence "Before Photos"

A La Provence, soon to be the new name of what used to be Albert's Provence, will be opening right around the corner from us in Market Square come Mother's Day and guess who the interior designers' are? Yes, we were fortunate to get the job! Russ and RoseMarie have been working hard to refurbish the interior before opening weekend. They'll be making somewhat of an "art gallery" on the existing walls and relighting the space with beautifully jeweled, iron chandeliers and sconces. These are some of the "before" photos of the space. Contractors have begun painting, tiling and wiring. We will be delighted to share the "after" photos in a couple of weeks.

Painting the walls around the bar area. Color scheme to include whites and neutrals on the walls and for the linens as well.

The ladies restroom will include a small seating area and mirror. The wallpaper will stay for the time being.

Keeping Up with Window Fashions

Tomorrow we will be waking up at 4:30 a.m. to jump in the car by 5:30 a.m. and make a trip over the Jacksonville, Florida for a Hunter Douglas seminar. The 2009 introductions and discontinuations will be made during this meeting. We're all very excited about learning the new product. Hunter Douglas has definitely kept up with the times as far as Eco-friendly window treatments are concerned. They've also made some changes to their existing lines that range from the contemporary Silhouette to the traditional Vignette or Roman Shade. We look forward to sharing the new information we learn with you and if you have time, check out www.hunterdouglas.com for some inspiration!

Easter Entry Table

A good friend of mine, who I met during my two years at Interior Design Graduate school, sketched and water-colored the most beautiful set of Easter cards this month. She is currently up in New York interning for several design firms, but draws and paints in her spare time. We've sat the cards right in the entryway of our showroom. At $7.50 a pack, they're a perfect Easter Bunny surprise for any basket. I've already written and addressed several myself!

Here's the pretty silver plater of cards.

First Adventures in Blogging

We currently have 4 bed frames in stock. We've assembled a couple vignettes with custom silk duvet ensembles, like the gold, black and cranberry you see here.

First Adventures In Blogging

Our showroom contains all ranges of design styles. Here is one example of a wall panel reminiscent of the Italianate style, which decorates one corner of our showroom.
